Throughout lockdown and the COVID pandemic, the Group continued to support and grow its balanced portfolio of 21 existing business across its six core divisions. A number of the Group’s businesses traded strongly during this period, particularly those involved in logistics and supply chain activities, and healthcare.

Group CEO, Steve Pendergast commented,

“The pandemic has certainly highlighted the importance of our balanced portfolio, as we’ve seen over-performance in some of our businesses provide a buffer to those sectors adversely affected by the lockdowns”.

Looking ahead the Group will seek to continue its impressive growth trajectory, largely by intensifying the focus on its three strategic growth activities – organic growth, bolt-ons, and acquisitions.

“Celebrating the good news is important. We’re so driven and growth-focused that it’s easy to overlook what an impressive achievement this is. It’s certainly been a concerted effort right across the Group and from within the brands within our portfolio, so everyone should feel rightly proud of what we’ve achieved” Steve continued.

With headcount across the Group approaching 300, the business has evolved into a multi-sector, national recruitment and staffing service specialist. It is now actively recruiting for talented individuals across the Group (see their careers listings HERE), as well as inviting applications for investment for potential new joint venture partners, and exploring suitable acquisition targets.

This year, 40 Bluestones employees descended on Dubai for a long weekend to celebrate the collective achievements and successes of individuals and businesses within the Group’s portfolio of recruitment and staffing services companies.

Every year, at a glitzy black-tie event the businesses within the Group’s portfolio come together for an evening of celebration – the Bluestones Investment Group (BIG) Awards. In November last year, the entire Group visited Chester Racecourse for the BIG Awards 2021 after a year of record sales, productivity and profit – which felt all the more impressive as the country exited the various lockdowns brought about through COVID.

Last week, the BIG Awards winners jetted off to Dubai for four days of sun-filled fun and partying, with a packed itinerary that included a desert safari, an incredible yacht trip, and brunch at Zero Gravity, JBR Dubai.

It was an unforgettable trip that everyone thoroughly enjoyed and even though they’ve just returned to the UK, the talk is already turning to how they can secure their place on the next BIG Awards winners trip, destination TBC!

Every year brands from across the Group, as well as the central support services, come together for an evening of food, drink, entertainment and recognising achievements, and this year was no different with the Group taking over the Imperial War Museum North in Salford Quays.

At this year’s BIG Awards evening, over 20 winners were recognised for their achievements during 2019, which included top-performing consultants and brands, and the people who embody the Group values of Passion, Accountability, Collaboration and Enjoyment. Every year, all award winners are treated to an award winners’ trip and this year we revealed that our winners will be jetting off to the Entertainment Capital of the World, Las Vegas, in 2020. Previous trips have seen winners travel to locations across the world including Dubai, Ibiza and New York.

While the evening focuses on people’s achievements, it is also an opportunity for colleagues across the group to reconnect and celebrate together. This year, all attendees were treated to welcome drinks and canapes underneath the museum’s harrier jet, a delicious three-course meal, entertainment from the band The Distance and Six15 DJ Will Maden Wilkinson and possibly best-appreciated, an all-inclusive bar.
